Sorry I am new to the forum. I am operating on a mac os sierra i am using an admistrator account as mine is the only account on the computer since i bought it. I have the latest version of the adobe product from the creative cloud. It says cc2017 and goes through the start up procedure but before it even opens I get this message and then the program stops and closes the window.

Hi,

Everytime I try to lunch Media encoder either from inside an adobe product or by itself i get an error message that reads "Adobe Media encoder has encountered an unexpected error and cannot continue." What do I do to fix this situation I use this product quite often to render my projects and would really like to keep using it rather than render in after effects or premiere.

Re: Using Media Encoder to convert Variable frame rate video to Constant

Hi booginmuhshug,

Sorry for this issue.

Could someone explain with detail how Media Encoder is able to convert a Variable frame rate video to constant? I am personally working with a live stream video and trying to add front and back bumpers in post.

Sorry, Media Encoder nor Premiere Pro can convert a variable frame rate clip to a constant frame rate clip. Make a request for that here. As Peru Bob suggests, please transcode the file using Handbrake.

Thanks,
Kevin

Can you provide a step by step video of how to create closed captions with the Media Coder.

I have set the preferences and set captions to open and encode on video, didn't work.

Then it is set to preferences but when I click on captions when the video is in the queue, the captions options is not available.

Then I read on the adobe help if you put set the video output for quick time you can select code captions in video.  Didn't work.

The software does not work for video captions.  I said well maybe the format is incorrect, when I changed the output for .MP4.

Then I set the closed captioned and it was suppose to create a separate file to import in Premiere video, didn't work.

HELP HELP!! I would to add captions in my video without typing word for word, which can lead to errors, nor do I have that type of time for a long video.

So please let me know which format should I choose, which shouldn't be an option.  Why you cannot select captions for the video and it is automated onto the video..

Then where is the file caption file, the create a separate file.  Once created where is it, it wasn't with the video in the output folder.  I  selected that option at one time that didn't, I think that all of the functions does not work on the software, and captions is one of those functions.  Thanks.

Problems eXporting PRO res and uncompressed file

I have a timeline that is around 30 minutes long,

and though i am able to give out h.264 outputs, am unable to eXport pro res or uncompressed 8 bit files.

Weirdly the error being shown is off disk full which is NOT the case at all.

I tried in both the thunderbolt hard disk and the laptop hard disk too.

And I have more than 300 gigs available on the laptop hard disk.

The error is coming in both the Media Encoder and also directly from Premiere.

I am attaching the screenshot from the Premiere error.

The footage is from 5D.

Thanks for plugin. Shame about the LA in HEVC audio sync issues. Wish you had a passthrough/ just mux option for audio. Most the time the audio is just fine and doesn't need to be rencoded.

Hi Ujjwalu,

I'm sorry for your frustrating experience!. I understand you have issues with ProRes or Uncompressed 8 bit files.

1. Is this happening with all projects or just with one project?

2. Have you tried exporting few seconds of the same sequence by assigning an IN & OUT points?

3. Create a new project & import the old project file(.prproj) into the new project & try export.

4. In Export settings, uncheck Use Previews & try export.

Please let us know the status of the issue.

Thanks,

Vidya

Hi Alessandra,

1. What is the version of Adobe Media Encoder?

2. What is the version of Operating System?

3. What is the exact workflow you are following to interpret footage.

Thanks,

Vidya

Thanks Vidya for the reply.

So, finally i think it did work, but there seemed to be a problem with multiple layers, sped up shots, and overlaying graphics and so on.  There was a portion of that timeline which was like that with really a lot of layers and so on. (there were about 20-30 layers there, i think) I eXported it separately and placed it there and then it did seem to work. (The same issues were happening with AfterEffects timelines - the ones that I had directly sent from Premiere- but then placing the eXports there directly helped, i guess that s easier for the computer to process) But it's really random, even after that once it again gave error, then when I put on an eXport of pro res with h.264 then it worked, and then again it didNT, and so on. really random. Finally, I doNT know after how many attempts it did work, but with a useless h.264 eXport with it. That s really weird as to why it should work when I am assigning two outputs and not one, or maybe it was just random.

anyway, to be able to understand this better I am replying to the questions that you asked directly:

1. Think this is happening only with this project, but this is like the first project I am doing after updating to the latest 2017 update

2. answered above, i think

3. I generally tend to do that anyway- create a new project and import that particular timeline only (thereby only the required media files come in) to the new project. This makes it easier if I have to import it directly onto Media Encoder. That I have to do quite some times, because just adding it to queue from Premiere Pro is also random. It sometimes happens, sometimes doesnT. Typically Media Encoder opens up but the queuing doesnT happen till you do it two-three times. Anyway, creating a new project for eXport also keeps it cleans.

4. eXport settings about using preview >> i tried both... just random... i generally say do not use preview but could you eXplain as to what happens if i doNT use previews and why should that be better or should better work for the eXport?

cheers

Adding a second output in Extendscript for Media Encoder

$

Hi,

I am using Extendscript to automate rendering from After Effects projects.

In the Extendscript toolkit, or through BridgeTalk, I can make the following work with AME cc:

var fnt = app.getFrontend();

var ech = app.getEncoderHost();

var exp = app.getExporter();

//The comp to be rendered

var cmp = "F:\\ProjectsAE\\AEProject.aep";

//AME presets to be used (I had to copy the epr files from their original location to a simple path for this to work)

var pst = "C:\\AMEPresets\\AVC-Intra Class100 1080 50i.epr";

var pst2="C:\\AMEPresets\\PAL DV Widescreen.epr";

//Output files without extensions

var out = "F:\\ProjectsAE\\Render\\AEProject_Onair";

var out2="F:\\ProjectsAE\\Render\\AEProject_Preview";

//This adds onair preset/output

fnt.addCompToBatch(cmp,pst,out);

//This adds preview preset/output for the same comp

fnt.addCompToBatch(cmp,pst2,out2);

//This starts rendering

ech.runBatch();

//This deletes the queue

//exp.removeAllBatchItems();

The problem is that two render items are added in the batch, one for each output preset.

I'd like to add both output presets to the same render item, so both can render simultaneously instead of one after another.

Is there an extendscript method to do so?

Is there some kind of documentation for AME extendscript?

The last "extendscript is unsupported for AME" messages date back from 2 years ago. Is anything supported by now?

Even if it's preliminary or beta, I'd love to know how to use it. Especially the syntax for the other addToBatch commands.

Chris

Is there a way to set up an effect preset (or chain of effects presests) in After Effects or Premiere Pro & then batch apply that to a folder full of clips using Media Encoder?

Media Encoder CC 2017 (11) Very Slow

The latest version of Media Encoder seems to be very slow to render even short videos. A 15 minute video rendering to an MPEG DVD is taking more than an hour. I've tested with multiple projects, some with advanced effects and others real simple and the results always seem to be consistent: They take too long to render. The previous version would render a video this short in 20-30 minutes using the same codec settings, so it has to be an issue specifically with the latest version.

I have tried clearing the media cache which hasn't helped.

Any help or suggestions would be great!

Hi RyanShepard,

Please check, if the GPU acceleration is enabled in the Queue Panel in Media Encoder. If not, change the Renderer & try export again.

Have you made any recent changes to Hardware or Software in your machine?

Thanks,

Vidya

Hi jlnsvfx,

1. Are you trying to Queue the Export from Premiere Pro or is it a direct export from Media Encoder?

2. If the Export is a Queue from Premiere Pro, Have you tried to export directly from Premiere Pro & check the colors?

3. If the colors of export from Premiere Pro are fine, then try this step.

     In Media Encoder > Preferences > General > Premiere Pro > Uncheck Import sequences natively & try Queue again.

Please provide us more information about Media Encoder version & system configuration to understand the issue better.

FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

Thanks,

Vidya
