Re: No time code overlay media encoder cc 2014

Since the timecode effect is using Arial font, this font needs to be installed and active on your Mac.  By default, this font is installed on Mac systems.  I wonder if this font is accidentally disabled or removed.  Could you launch an app called "Font Book" under your Mac application folder and see if Arial is indeed installed and active?  There are a few kind of Arial font such as Arial Black, Arial Hebrew, Arial Narrow and so on.  What you need is the regular "Arial".  Do you see it?

Resolved! You are an absolute superstar for helping with this. You were right, in my quest to stay on top of all my clients' fonts, I had turned off all un necessary fonts, but of course you need Arial for number of reasons. Once enabled, the Timecode overlays works like a charm. Thanks you! Hope you get a nice weekend. All the best, Arvid

Re: Media Encoder CC audio question

I am running version 8.2.0.54 currently.

So... I start Media Encoder, add a file with 1 video track and 8 discrete channels of audio to the queue, select "QuickTime" for my export, select "custom" from the dropdown under "export settings", select the "audio" tab and go to the "basic audio settings" where I can select the number of audio channels I need under the "channels" pull-down menu.

Yes, this seems to work fine!  I wonder why I couldn't get this to work yesterday (or ever, really), despite doing what I thought was exactly that.

Thanks for the help!

When I say "None" for metadata, why am I still getting something laced with...(you guessed it!)...METADATA!?!

It seems that something went awry since AME CS6.

Because, I get stuff like this tucked into my mp4's whenever I pull the metadata drop-down to None:

<x:xmpmeta xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/" x:xmptk="Adobe XMP Core 5.6-c014 79.156821, 2014/08/29-03:07:50        ">

Is there any way to entirely turn off metadata?

If not, I'd like to flag this as a big bug.

Thanks!

AME 2014 exports 9 times slower than directly from PP 2014 (PC) whatz up?

AME 2014 exports H.264 is 9 times slower than directly from PP 2014. I also tried dvd-2 encoding & it's just as slow

(PC)

6 core i7  970 intel 3.2, Nvidia GTX 570, 24 gigs ram, raid 0, win 7 service pack 1, 64 bit

AME CS6 & CC work fine but 2014 is a slug! Is this a bug?

Does AME use multiple OpenCL GPUs?

Hi, I have a 2014 retina MacBook Pro (2.8 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM) with an Intel Iris Pro (1.5GB) & GeForce GT 750m (2GB).

I was wondering if AME utilizes both the Iris Pro and the GT 750m when exporting. According to LuxMark benchmarking, the Iris Pro is significantly faster than the GeForce at OpenCL tasks, so I just want to make sure that AME is getting the most out of my system.

Any way to force all OpenCL computing to be done on the Iris Pro instead of the GeForce?

AME might be set to use "Maximum Render Quality" and PP might not. Check that setting.

If you're using GPU acceleration of any sort (PP and AME have separate settings for this as well), Maximum Render Quality is automatically enabled regardless of the checkbox's setting.

Thanks for responding. I realized my gtx 570 needed a driver update...That fixed it.

Color & Tonality change upon export...gamma shift or something else?

$

Hi there. I have a question regarding some issues with exporting. I am trying to export a Quicktime video, with the X264Encoder, with Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder. I am using footage from a Canon 6D and 7D.

I noticed quite a difference in the color and tonality of my video from the program window in Premiere. I have spent many hours researching this issue and stumbled upon the Gamma Shift. However, I read that most people experiencing this issue were using Final Cut Pro. I decided to do my research and follow some steps to try and conquer this problem on my own.

Aside from changing settings in their Quicktime Players, many people were resorting to using the X264Encoder as a solution to the problem. I have been using X264Encoder for quite some time.  I followed some instructions to go into the codec settings of the X264Encoder and check the box that reads “Add gamma 2.2 (SD/HD content)” which was supposedly the solution to this gamma shift many have been experiencing. I kept opening this settings window to make sure that the change had been applied - and it was. This did not affect my export and left me with the same undesirable appearance.

Perhaps I have not been as observant to the shift before, but this specific export seemed to really show a difference in color and tonality. I also incorporated a graphic, exported from AE, in my PP project that had 90% opacity. The AE graphic looked just the way I had anticipated when imported into my PP project. So, there wasn’t an issue in the AE render.

In my final export, there was not only the shift in color and tonality, but the graphic I had included was quite low in saturation (or washed out), which I am guessing has to do with the blacks not being true, as shown in the overall image. Again... the gamma shift?

I should also mention that I always view my videos with VLC Player, as it shows a more accurate preview of such details. Even when uploaded to Vimeo, these issues were present.

I have restarted my computer and all programs. I even moved my project over to another machine and tried to export from there. The same issues arose.

For a quick solution, I exported my video with the H.264 format as a .mp4. The color was much more accurate with this export. However, I would like to troubleshoot the issue with the Quicktime format, rather than resort to .mp4 or making tonal and color adjustments in PP that would compensate for the shift...which is obviously a bad idea to begin with.

I am using the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite CC 2014

The specs of my machine are:

Mac Pro

Processor: 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

Memory: 20 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC

Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB

Software: OS X 10.8.5

Here is a screen capture of what I am experiencing...

And here is a screen shot to show my export settings:

I hope that is enough information to get to the bottom of this problem!

I appreciate all help provided!

How to encode MP4 with "H264" Format, instead of "AVC1" or "AVC Coding"

$

Hi, the application for which I am encoding requires MP4 files but it does note support "AVC1" type.  Where can I set this encoding format in Media Encoder?

When I load some MP4 files into Quicktime Player to check their properties, they show as Format: H.264, while MP$ files encoded from AME show up with Format: AVC Coding.  I believe I am looking for a way to get AME to create MP4 files that have H.264 format.

thanks!

When I install the new version, Nvenc_export does not show up in presets, but when I restore the old version it shows back up on premiere export options.

Any ideas how I can make the new one show up right?

(edit, fixed by reinstalling vcredist.)

More edit:

Apparently selecting Mkv in premiere and AME do not bring up the proper look for path to mkv program button. Therefore I cannot properly select MKV for multiplexing.

Greetings, i have tested this preset and i love it! It uses 80-100% of Gpu when it used 0-30%

But it is useful when u use ONLY GPU ACCELERATED EFFECTS.

If i use an effect like the Noise Reduction or from the Magic Bullet Suite, Mojo or Denoiser for exaple, this preset does not work at all!
I can encode, but the GPU is at 0% and it takes the same time as the h264 premiere's preset and the CPU is at 100% as usual

I love the idea to encode with the combination of GPU and the CPU, because as it is now, if u encode a timeline that has effects that do not support GPU Acceleration you must use only the CPU.

Hi mate, same here.. I can't do it work, simply.. I select GPU in Premiere and AME (gtx 970 in my PC and gt755M in my laptop, neither is working), GPU is 0% of use to do a simple video conversion.
To show that is a Adobe problem, this guy create his own exporter plugin ( SHAME ON YOU ADOBE!). With it AME work very, very fast, but i have issues too when change the video format to MP4.

I don't know what i do. I think Nvidia and Adobe messed up very bad this feature.. Nice Adobe, i have a good GPU but i have to wait very long times (1hr videos conversion) because you guys can't do a simple exporter plugin that use GPU power.. So, stop collecting our money only and GO TO IMPLEMENT OUR NEEDS! Have a nice day.

So, how i can use AME and my GPU? It simply doesn't work. I export from premiere cc2014 withou filters, only video with Mercury GPU. PP and AME GPU use is 0%. Zero.
A very large number of users have the same problem.. So what you say about this? Is Adobe doing his part implementing our needs? Seems not.. And we all are very upset with this..
An user created his own export plugin to do this work (shame on you)...

SMART TV rendering

Is anyone creating work for playback on a SMART TV via a USB device? I am trying to render a file that will be "universally" compatible with a variety of SMART TVs, but not having much luck. I have a file with an MOV extension that plays fine in my Samsung TV but the same file is not even recognized on my Panasonic (which sees the drive but does;t not see any files). The Panasonic wants an MP4 extension, so when I change the extension it sees the file in a directory list but reports that it cannot play it.

I've also got to figure out what a safe maximum data rate is (under 10 Mbps?) Any help wouldbeappreciated.

Is there a way to output mpeg from Media Encoder without the audio volume being compress/expanded?

My audio begins with a gentle wind. After mpeg it sounds like a windstorm until other sounds kick in.
